At this year’s edition of MARKET Art Fair, Galleri Andersson/Sandström will introduce the internationally renowned artist Jaume Plensa. The gallery, which also co-produces the sculpture park Umedalen Skulptur, will here present a sample of Plensa’s work, as he is the main act of this year’s exhibition in the park. The Barcelona born artist had his artistic breakthrough in his hometown in the 1980’s, and has since had an extensive career. His sculptures play with light and shadow, transparency, and construction of dimensionality, often with the written word as an important component. Among his wide array of public installations, the magnificent "Crown Fountain" in Chicago's Millennium Park is often referred to as one of the foremost. Jaume Plensa also works within the academic world, as a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and teacher at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
At MARKET, Galleri Andersson/Sandström will also show works by Lucy Glendinning, Anneè Olofsson and Assa Kauppi, in an exhibition that centers on the rendition of the human body.
