Sune Jonsson, born 1930 in Nyåker, Sweden. Studied English, Ethnology and the History of Literature at the Universities of Stockholm and Uppsala. Jonsson worked as a field ethnologist and photographer at the Västerbottens Museum 1961 – 1995.  He has been awarded several prizes including Svenska Dagbladets Prize for Photography 1960, and Västerbottens Kurirens Cultural  Award. In 1993 he received the Hasselblad Award and in 1995 he became an Honorary Doctor at the University of Agriculture in Sweden. He is also, since 2001, an Honorary Doctor at the Faculty of Arts at the University in Umeå.
