In Wickströms works, fragments from the self-perceived and the private fuse with the documentary. The subjects are taken from the international political arena to colourful and shimmering landscapes. Details taken from cityscape, stagnant and seductive, mix with the pop culture’s commercial heroes – splinters from our modern history.

Wickström have created a characteristic expression in the Swedish contemporary art scene. His work can be seen as poetical reflections of our worlds less poetical events. Here psychoanalysis and semiotics meet in an interaction between the documentary and the private life. A thematic that is constantly present in Wickströms artistry.
