Knutte Wester, is awarded the Swedish Church Cultural Stipend worth 100000 SEK for the art project “A Secret Place”.

The jury writes: “With a group of refugee children in hiding, Knutte Wester creates a small cabin braided of thin twigs. The hut is described as a spiritual place where play creates a zone of freedom, free from the rules of the grown-up world. This hut is subsequently cast in bronze. With delicate and carefully executed sculptures, Wester turns the spotlight on the most powerless in our society – refugee children. The project is an important contribution to the ongoing debate on refugees in Sweden.”

Congratulations Knutte!
