On September 24, Stina Rosenberg, born 1981, was awarded one of Sweden’s biggest art stipends – the Åke Andrén Trust Stipend. This is the second time the stipend, worth 500.000 SEK, was handed out to an emerging artist.

In addition to the grant money, the stipend consists of the opportunity for the artist to exhibit at the City of Stockholm art gallery, Liljevalchs, between September 24 and 29, 2013. The paintings above are exhibited.

The jury writes: “Stina Rosenberg chooses to go back to the basics of the process of painting. Her images do not represent, but confront us with the reality of color and the movement of the hands over the monochrome painting. Our gaze wanders across the large shape on the surface, and turns it into space and as such, a carrier of myriads of small bodies of colour, each and every one with its own spatiality and kinetic energy.”

Congratulations, Stina!

The exhibition will continue from Liljevalchs to Jönköpings läns museum, October 12, 2013 to January 12, 2014.
