After 15 years in the former boiler house on Umedalen, Galleri Andersson/Sandström has decided to take the next step. This autumn, the gallery will leave its current location and move to the centre of Umeå.

The public part, the exhibitions, will be concentrated to Stockholm, where Galleri Andersson/Sandström already is established. Since 2008 the gallery has organized exhibitions in the space which is located in the art district of Vasastan. The program in Stockholm will not be affected by the changes in Umeå, we will continue to present 8 exhibitions per year by artists represented by the gallery. The amount of 9 employees will also remain unchanged.

The new space in Umeå is located right in the city in the historic stone building Tullkammaren, next door to the new cultural centre Väven, with the fantastic view of the river, Umeälven. On the total area of 300 square meters, the gallery will have its office, storage and showroom.

”It is with great anticipation and enthusiasm we look forward to this change. Our work will continue to be planning the exhibition program in Stockholm, participating in art fairs, implement public commissions and keep in contact with our artists and clients in Sweden and internationally.”

On April 16, the last exhibition that will be shown in the current space on Umedalen will be inaugurated. The exhibition, 140 artists – 15 years is an extensive group exhibition that summarizes the 95 exhibitions that has ever been presented in the former boiler house. The exhibition runs until May 20.
